Trainer wins council seat in Haldimand byelection

Former Haldimand mayor Marie Trainer will be returning to council.

Unofficial results released by the county on Monday night have Trainer winning the council seat with 675 votes in the Ward 4 byelection.

Tony Dalimonte, another former council member, received 641 votes.

The remaining vote tally was Albert Marshall – 356 votes; Jesse Little- 101; and James Kasperetz with 49 votes.

Trainer was mayor of the municipality from 2003 until 2010.

The byelection was held to replace Natalie Stam, who resigned her seat at the beginning of March, citing health reasons.
