In Pokémon GO, a trainer accidentally discovers a mysterious ribbon on wild monsters and wonders what it’s all about. We at MeinMMO show you what it’s all about and what it brings you.
What monsters are they about? In Pokémon GO, not only can you meet monsters in your immediate vicinity, but you can also use the Nearby feature to see what specimens are at nearby PokéStops.
But looking at this list, one coach has noticed a mysterious ribbon that he had never seen before. He rightly wonders what it’s all about. This is exactly what we have summarized for you below.
Band is an important new feature
What exactly did the trainer discover? Looking at the list of nearby monsters usually doesn’t reveal anything out of the ordinary. But now the Reddit user associategrean shows in his post a picture in which you can see a small ribbon, a kind of medal, next to the display of a Karnivanah.
He writes (via reddit.com): What does the little ribbon mean (?) next to the nearby Pokémon? I’ve never seen this before and couldn’t find any posts/comments about it here.
What does the band mean? Although the trainers have all sorts of funny explanations for the little ribbon in the comments, it has a really important function that has only recently been added to the game.
It is shown to you with the monsters in the nearby function that you still need to solve your collector’s challenge. So you can see straight away that you still need this Pokémon and, ideally, catch it in the location shown.
Since Karnivanah is part of the Dark Flames event gathering challenge, it was displayed as such to the trainer. So the icon doesn’t actually show a ribbon at all, but a medal that you can get by completing the challenge.
Why is this helpful? So-called collector challenges take place again and again in Pokémon GO. In these you have to catch very specific monsters in order to be able to solve them. This is also currently the case during the Dark Flames event.
In the past, however, there has always been criticism from trainers that they could not find the monsters they needed. The new symbol should make this easier for you. So if a monster just doesn’t appear on the map, then it’s definitely worth taking a look at the nearby function. You can find this at the bottom right of the screen.
How do you like the new feature? Does it help you find the monsters for the Collector’s Challenge? Or do you find such a function rather superfluous? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments.
Another change has caused a lot of frustration among coaches in the past few days. Now Niantic explains why they have reduced the spawn radius again.
