The ProRail spokesperson describes the situation at Utrecht Central Station as “busy, but not unmanageable”. “I expect that we will be able to bring all stranded travelers home tonight.” The NS shares that expectation: “We are going to do everything we can to get everyone home again. And I assume that that will work out. Also because it will take a while before the normal timetable stops.”
