Train staff often experience violence conductor Jan fears the worst

The chief conductor gives numerous examples of expressions of violence, but it does not hinder him in his work, he says. “I’m alert, but if I’m scared every day, I have to stop.” And he doesn’t plan to do that anytime soon. After 26 years, he still loves being on the train. “It may sound crazy, but it is the best job there is.” Lonely people who want contact and who want to make someone happy again when they come to you grumpy, those are the things that make his job so great. And, he says matter-of-factly, “in the end, most passengers are just on their way from A to B, they simply want a pleasant journey.”
