Trailer provides a first glimpse of the reddit film adaptation

Stock market fever broke out on reddit in 2021 and gamers shook Wall Street with GameStop stock. A film based on true events will be released later this year called Dumb Money.

At the beginning of 2021, experts said that the well-known chain of stores GameStop could not hold up in the long term. The reason for this is the digital sale of games. Therefore, established stock market pundits bet on a low price of Gamestop shares.

However, numerous gamers joined forces via reddit and thwarted their plans. They bought up lots of Game Stop stock. The campaign continued to grow through memes and became a viral internet phenomenon. You can read more about the events surrounding the GameStop campaign here.

A film will be released soon that takes up the story of GameStop stock. Sony Pictures Entertainment has now released the first trailer for the upcoming movie “Dumb Money” and showed the Hollywood cast of the film in action.

    When does Dumb Money hit theaters? The film will have its theatrical release in the USA later this year, on September 22, 2023. The film should then also be available in Germany shortly afterwards.
