The case of a Chatham Township man charged with attempted murder after a Wallaceburg-area trailer park shooting will return to court in June.
Jamie Kelly’s lawyer, Frank Retar, told a Chatham court Tuesday a planned judicial pre-trial this month had to be canceled due to a conflict with a trial he was covering.
Delay requested a new judicial pre-trial June 20, with Kelly returning to court June 28 for instructions.
Resolution discussions have taken place, Retar has told the court .
Evidence heard during this phase of court proceedings cannot be published.
According to previously published reports, Kelly, 56, was charged with two counts of attempted murder after a home was hit by gunfire June 11, 2022, at Shiloh Park, a year-round trailer and mobile home park near Wallaceburg.
Shortly after, Chatham-Kent police charged Kelly with two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of carelessly using a firearm and four counts of carelessly storing a firearm.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire in Shiloh Park about 11 pm June 11 found a home hit by several shots, but its occupants unharmed, police said.
Officers arrested a suspect about 1 pm the next day, police said.
