James Gunn has a lot going on with his Gods and Monsters reboot of the DC Comics film universe. But before he presents his reboot of Superman in 2025 with David Corenswet in tight pants, a new DC series is starting this year: Creature Commandos.
Anyone who knows the villainous Suicide Squad is familiar with the concept of shadowy metahumans with superpowers who are supposed to act as a team against a larger threat. And for even more familiarity, here’s this English Trailer about the animated series:
Creature Commandos – S01 Trailer (English) HD
Who are the DC “superheroes” of the Creature Commandos?
Superpowered drummer Amanda Waller (voiced by Viola Davis in the original English version) should no longer risk human lives after the events of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Luckily, she also has a whole one Menagerie of movie monsters to recruit at her disposal, which she can unleash against the enemy without restriction.
Under leader Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), the amphibian scientist Nina Mazursky (Zeo Chao), the radioactive Dr. Phosphorus (Alan Tudyk), Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour), GI Robot and Weasel (both Sean Gunn) as well as Frankenstein’s Bride (Indira Varma) are put together to form a sinister black ops team.
“You wanted monsters? You get monsters”says the extremely bloody preview, including exploding heads and flying eyes. Above all, this should make it clear that this is the case not around a comic show for children acts.
When and where can you see the DC series Creature Commandos?
Creature Commandos launches on December 5, 2024 with an episode written by showrunner James Gunn on HBO streamer Max in the USA. After that, it continues every week with one of a total of seven episodes from season 1. When and where the edgy animated series will come to Germany, only metahumans with fortune-telling powers know so far.
