It’s only February and yet one of the best films of the year fixed: Past Lives. In January, Celine Song’s directorial debut had its world premiere at Sundance. The international premiere at the Berlinale took place a few days ago. Now there is finally a trailer for the movie jewel.

Past Lives tells a heartbreaking love story spanning 24 years. At the center of events is Nora (Greta Lee), who left South Korea with her family as a child and started a new life in Toronto. Many years later she lives in New York and gets in touch with an old friend.
Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) is still in South Korea. But he hasn’t forgotten Nora. He’s been looking for her on the internet for years. Now they find each other again, but theirs lives have changed. What remains are their feelings for each other. However, the time that has passed and the physical distance make things complicated.

Past Lives received very positive reviews from both Sundance and the Berlinale. The Wrap writes that we are dealing with a film that “will turn your idea of life upside down on love, identity and destiny.” It is high time that this wonderful work received a German theatrical release.
