American ice hockey player Adam Johnson has died at the age of 29. The skate cut Johson’s neck in the British Challenge Cup match on Saturday. Johnson later died of his injuries at the hospital.

Johnson’s club Nottingham Panthers announced it on the X-message service.

The match between Nottingham and Sheffield Steelers was suspended at the end of the second period. Paramedics arrived on the ice before Johnson was taken to the hospital.

There were 8,000 spectators watching the match on the spot, who were asked to leave the hall due to an emergency.

In his career, Johnson played 13 NHL games for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In Europe, in addition to Nottingham, he played in Swedish Malmö and German Augsburg.
