Traffic stop leads to Wallaceburg man facing drug loads

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing several charges after being pulled over Tuesday afternoon when Chatham-Kent police responded to a traffic complaint.

Police said the man informed police he did not have a valid driver’s license.

Investigation revealed the man was bound by four court orders prohibiting him for operating a motor vehicle, police said.

The accused was arrested and charged with one count of failing to comply with a release order and four counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

While being searched during the arrest, police said the accused was found in possession of suspected cocaine, psilocybin, scales and a substantial amount of Canadian currency.

He was also charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, police said.

The accused was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing, police said.

Audience intoxication

A 32-year-old Tilbury woman was arrested for public intoxication after Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance on Charteris Street in Chatham just before 10:30 pm Tuesday.

Police arrived and found the woman appeared to be intoxicated and unable to care for herself.

She was arrested and taken to police headquarters and placed in custody until she was sober.

Trailer stolen

Chatham-Kent police are seeking the public’s help in finding those responsible for stealing a black, 2019 two-axel trailer.

Police said the trailer, with Ontario license plate S1146P, was stolen from a business on National Road in Chatham, sometime overnight on Saturday, May 7.

Police said the trailer has orange spray paint on the driver’s side.
