Three people are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police stopped a vehicle on Park Avenue West in Chatham just before 4 am Saturday.
Police believed the driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old Chatham woman, was driving while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in her arrest.
Further investigation also revealed all occupants of the vehicle were in possession of controlled substances, police said.
The driver was transported to police headquarters for breath tests, which resulted in her being charged with operation while impaired, refusing to comply with demand for a breath test and possession of a controlled substance, police said.
The vehicle was seized and a 90-day license suspension was imposed on the woman, police said. She was released with an Aug. 4 short date.
A 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and released with an Aug. 4 short date, police said.
A 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and released with an Aug. 24 short date.
Unwanted person
A 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested Friday after Chatham-Kent police responded to an unwanted person complaint at a residence on Bedford Street in Chatham during the noon hour.
Officers entered the residence and located the accused inside, police said.
He was arrested and charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house, and later released with an Aug. 30 short date, police said.
