A 31-year-old man has been convicted of unlawful stalking after placing an Airtag, a type of transmitter, on his ex-girlfriend’s car.

The couple broke up after nine years together and when the woman informed the man that she did not want to have contact with him, he attached a GPS transmitter, a so-called Airtag, to the woman’s car, writes Skånska Dagbladet.

According to the man, he did it because he suspected she had met someone else.

In addition to tracking the woman, he has repeatedly violated the no-contact order, called her countless times and approached her in various places against her will. The woman has stated that she was afraid that the man would hurt her and she had the car smashed.

He is sentenced for unlawful persecution to a suspended sentence with 100 hours of community service. He must also pay SEK 42,000 to the woman in damages.
