Toyota halts production after system failure

The company, which is the world’s largest car manufacturer, does not want to give any further comments about what the system error could be due to.

— At the moment, we do not believe it is a cyber attack, says a spokesperson for Toyota, and adds that they will continue to troubleshoot with the aim of restarting production as soon as possible.

It is unclear whether factories in other countries have also been affected and there is no forecast for when the problem may be resolved.

Last year, the car giant was forced to pause all domestic production after a subcontractor suffered a cyber attack.

The company is one of the most important and respected in Japan, and its operations have a wide-ranging impact on the country’s economy.
