Toxic players are rampant in League of Legends, but Riot Games wants to make it easier for you to rat them out in the future

Toxic player behavior is a big problem for many developers. Riot Games brings with Patch 13.8. a new report feature for League of Legends, which should make it easier for you to report toxic players even after a match.

League of Legends is notorious for the toxic behavior of some of its players. No wonder, after all, 5 strangers are thrown into a match. You then have to play together without much consultation. Since even small mistakes can have big consequences in the course of a game, teamwork is particularly important.

When things don’t go according to plan, things quickly get heated. Some players have even made a career out of it on Twitch or YouTube. Tyler1, for example, is the unofficial poster boy for toxic behavior.

Riot Games, the developers of the MOBA, have already tried a few things to kill the baddies. There is a system that can automatically mute toxic players. In the case of serious violations, even automated account blocks are pronounced. Now the developers have come up with something new and the report function with patch 13.8. revised.

Toxic behavior in MOBAs is annoying. But the popularity of LoL does not seem to detract from this, as this video shows, which has been viewed millions of times.

What did the developers announce? With the new patch 13.8. the LoL makers have adapted the report function. In the future, it will be possible to report toxic behavior during the course of the game. In addition, you can now also subsequently report players who could not behave themselves.

Reporting is now possible in gameplay! You can report another player by right-clicking on their row when viewing past game summaries in your game history.

The report feature is one of the few tools players and developers have to deal with toxic behavior. In the best case, repeated reports quickly lead to penalties and toxic accounts are banned.

Ironically, the report feature can also be abused by trolls by reporting innocent players. So it’s quite likely that the developers will continue to look for ways to improve the system. However, the new feature is an important step in the right direction.

What do you think of the new reporting features in League of Legends? Do you think this is the right step to curb toxic behavior? Or do you think the trolls won’t be put off by that? Leave us a comment and discuss with the community.
