Towe Haraldsson von Bahr was seconds from a real nightmare dive.
She had just stepped up when it suddenly started bubbling – and a foul-smelling brown goo rose to the surface.
– It was like an “alien”, she says in Efter fem.
The incident occurred when Towe was out with the boat and swimming at Flatskär, far out in the West Sea outside Bohuslän.
Fortunately she had just stepped up when the strange mourner appeared, who P4 West was the first to report on.
– It started bubbling up from the water and then a brown cloud came, it was like a real “alien” came out of the sea, she says in Efter fem.
– It smelled an awful lot like methane gas, and that’s the same as shit.
“Must come from the interior of the earth”
She says that she is both happy and grateful that she was not left in the water when it started.
She still doesn’t know exactly what it was that bubbled out of the water.
– I’ve received a lot of answers from, among other things, a professor who said that methane gas can form when it’s very hot and the water is still, but there it’s quite a current. It is a sandy bottom and no seaweed is there, so it must have come from far down from the interior of the earth.
When asked if it could not have been a burst sewer pipe, she replies:
– Not out there, I can promise. There is no such facility nearby.
