Tove Alexandersson orienteer of the year 2024 – voted for the 12th time

This year’s orienteer is called Tove Alexandersson (Big Tuna OK). The title of orienteer of the year has been awarded since 1948 and since the early 70s it has been the country’s sports journalists who vote for who should be awarded the title.

Borlänges and Stora Tuna OK’s superstar, Tove Alexandersson, has previously won the award eleven times and only once since 2012 has someone other than Alexandersson been awarded.

In 2015 Annika Billstam won and in 2022 Tove Alexandersson had to share the prize with Martin Regborn. This year too, it was the latter two who received the most votes.

Martin Regborn (Hagaby GoIF), was second and ski orienteer Magdalena Olsson (IFK Mora IK) took third place.

Tove Alexandersson has had a successful year where she won both WC gold in the individual sprint and the knockout sprint. She also ran home the EC long-distance gold in the Hungarian heat, won the long-distance World Cup in Finland, and ended the season on a high with a middle-distance World Cup victory. She was also overall winner in the O-Ring.
