A tourist bus with 36 passengers, a guide and a driver has skidded off the road and overturned west of Lofoten in northern Norway. Several people are said to still be stuck in the bus and several are said to be trapped. Six people are said to have been taken to hospital, according to Norwegian VG.

A large rescue mission is in place, but there is currently no information on whether anyone has life-threatening injuries. Another bus is on site to transport uninjured and slightly injured people away from the accident scene.

Several rescue helicopters are sent to the scene, where there is dense fog.

“Several people got stuck in the bus. Ambulance provides first aid at the scene,” the police in Nordland tweet.

The bus must have been on its way to Hauklandstranda when the accident happened in the morning.
