The fire caused a real sea of flames on the A2. Initially, the road was only closed in the direction of Amsterdam, but soon the other direction of travel had to be closed as well. Due to the possible explosion hazard, this took longer than expected. At around 11:35 a.m., Rijkswaterstaat reported that the explosion hazard had passed and that the A2 towards Utrecht was therefore released again.
