Tour of Italy: Geraint Thomas takes power, João Almeida offers himself the 16th stage

The Welshman Geraint Thomas took power over the Giro by finishing second in the stage at the top of Monte Bondone this Tuesday, May 23, during the first mountain meeting of the third week. Portuguese João Almeida won in the sprint. This is the first victory in a Grand Tour for Almeida, who took off less than five kilometers from the finish with Thomas. The Slovenian Primoz Roglic showed signs of weakness and conceded 25 seconds on the first two and climbed on the third step of the podium of the stage. Geraint Thomas takes over the leader’s pink jersey from Frenchman Bruno Armirail who dropped out 10 km from the finish.
