Tour Norfolk’s water/wastewater treatment plants

Tour Norfolks waterwastewater treatment plants

If you’ve ever wondered where your drinking water comes from, now’s the chance to find out.

Norfolk County’s environmental and infrastructure services division is inviting the community to peek behind the scenes at two Norfolk County treatment plants.

On Sunday, residents can take a free tour of the Waterford water treatment plant at 373 Thompson Rd. West from 11 am to 2 pm

See the many processes in place to ensure water provided to the town of Waterford is clean and safe.

There also will be Norfolk County vehicles on site and activities for children.

“Norfolk County’s environmental and infrastructure services team works hard to ensure high quality drinking water is there when you turn on your tap,” said Mayor Amy Martin. “I’m pleased that staff have put these tours together to open our doors and allow residents to meet the team, check out the facility, and better understand an essential county service we use every day.”

A second round will take place at the Simcoe water treatment plant at 16 Oakwood Ave. on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
