Tour de France: the profile of the 4th stage Pinerolo – Valloire

Tour de France the profile of the 4th stage Pinerolo

It’s time for serious business this Tuesday, July 2, with the 4th stage between Pinerolo and Valloire.

After two eventful stages and a rather dull third, things really get serious this Tuesday, July 2 with the 4th stage between Pinerolo – Valloire. This is the first passage in the Alps that is on the program with the ascent of mythical passes. Today’s stage will be explosive with 139 kilometers and four passes to climb, including those of Sestriere (2,035 m) and Galibier (2,642 m).

The riders will first cover 70 kilometres on Italian soil, from Pinerolo, before (finally) returning to France. The slopes of Sestriere (39.9 km at 3.7%, 2,035 m) will be a very long appetiser for the riders. The Montgenèvre pass, the second difficulty of the day (km 71) will allow them to switch to France. The peloton will then have to climb the Galibier pass (23 km at 5.1%, 2,642 m) to reach Valloire. If a big battle is expected, the downhill finish could “spoil” the show a bit.
