Tour de France: “No controversy”, Pogacar calms the game against Vingegaard

Tour de France No controversy Pogacar calms the game against

After the criticism, Tadej Pogacar calmed things down a bit against the double winner of the Tour de France.

“I really want to say there is no controversy, it’s just the spirit of the race, then the race was fun, I tried to attack unfortunately the track and the wind were not in our favour but hey, it was the race and yesterday was a good rest day I recovered well. Today too was a good stage so all is well and one day less.” After the 10th stage, Slovenian Tadej Pogacar tried to calm things down following the numerous statements against Jonas Vingegaard.

As a reminder, the leader of the UAE team had indicated that, according to him, the Dane was afraid of him. “If he was not afraid of me, they would have taken over, him and his teammate, but they are fixated on me (…) I think they only care about me, they underestimate the others, there could be a backlash.”

Jonas Vingegaard had responded sharply to Pogacar on the rest day. “If I had ridden with them for 70 kilometres and then found myself alone in the last kilometres – which happened – then my Tour could have been over. So it’s not a problem of balls, but just of race intelligence.”

Evenepoel also critical

“Maybe the podium of the Tour de France could have been decided today (Sunday, Editor’s note). We have to accept the tactics, reacted the Belgian white jersey to the microphone of ITV Cycling, but sometimes you also have to have the balls to race, and unfortunately Jonas perhaps didn’t have them” he had said very annoyed.
