The Court of Appeal toughens the sentence for a 17-year-old boy who last summer killed a man and injured another man in a knife attack in Malmö. The sentence will now be closed youth care for three years and nine months – nine months more than what he received in the district court. The sentence must be served in a special youth home, writes the Court of Appeal for Skåne and Blekinge in a press release.

The Court of Appeal assessed the punishment as 17 years in prison, while the district court considered it to be 15 years.

It was late in the evening on June 14 last year that the police received an alarm about a stabbing near Möllevångstorget. The two injured men were taken to the emergency room and the following morning the police announced that one of them had died of his injuries.

A man who is now 23 has also been charged with murder and attempted murder. But just like in the district court, he is now sentenced by the Court of Appeal for assault. The Court of Appeal does not consider it proven that he was aware that the teenager would use a knife in the fight with the two men.
