Touch a truck at event celebrating National Public Works Week

Brantford man reported missing found deceased

The City of Brantford and the Neighborhood Hubs Association will hold its second annual Wheels on the Pavement event on May 15.

Held in celebration of National Public Works Week at the Brantford and District Civic Centre, 79 Market St. South, from 1 pm to 4 pm, there will be an assortment of trucks, police vehicles and city vehicles, along with a fire truck, booths and food trucks. Free entertainment will be provided.

Everyone is welcome to the free community event where visitors can see, touch, climb and explore, said Inderjit Hans, the city’s general manager of public works.

“We’re offering an educational opportunity for the public, especially kids, to get up close to city vehicles that are used to repair and maintain infrastructure and move people through the City of Brantford,” said Hans.

A free bike valet with supervised security will be available for those who’d like to cycle to the event. Parking is available in the Earl Haig Family Fun Park parking lot and the Market Street Parkade.

Event organizers will be collecting non-perishable snacks, including granola bars, apple sauce and fruit cups, to help support local schools.
