CAC 40 companies are in good health. After the publication this Thursday, February 15 of the annual financial results of Stellantis, Orange, Airbus and Schneider Electric, the cumulative net profits of the 40 companies in the Paris stock index reach 123.9 billion euros in 2023, compared to 125 billion in 2022.
This total passes the 100 billion mark for the third year in a row, while only 25 CAC 40 companies have published their annual results since the markets closed on Wednesday evening. The rest of the companies in the index – whose results for 2023 are not yet known – had generated a total of 18.4 billion euros in profits in 2022.
A figure notably boosted by automobiles and luxury. Thus, the manufacturer Stellantis placed second on Wednesday on the podium for the largest profits reported for 2023 with 18.6 billion euros, behind TotalEnergies and its 19.8 billion euros in net revenues in 2023. Likewise, Renault made a profit of 2.2 billion euros last year, after a loss of 350 million a year earlier.
Another driver of this good economic health: the luxury sector. Hermès, Kering, L’Oréal and LVMH will total 29 billion euros in net profits in 2023. LVMH thus completes the podium with 15.1 billion euros in net revenues, up 8% compared to 2022.
Finally, the banks BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole occupy 5th and 6th place in the ranking. By adding Société Générale (2.5 billion), their net profits reached 20 billion euros, up 14% over one year.
