There is a total standstill on national highway 70, north of Sala, after a lorry got stuck.

Caroline and Patrik have been stuck with their 10-week-old daughter Elvira since 8 p.m.

– It’s too bad, says Caroline.

Highway 70 is completely blocked. It is not possible to get ahead in the southbound direction.

“Rescuer on the way. Forecast around 02:30 before the road can be opened,” writes the Swedish Transport Administration on its website.

Caroline and Patrik are stuck in their car with daughter Elvira, 10 weeks old.

The family has been in Sälen and is on its way to Stockholm.

– We’ve been standing here since 8 p.m. It’s too bad. Considering how the Swedish Transport Administration has handled this sort of thing in the past, they should handle it better now, says Caroline.

She adds that she is happy that she is breastfeeding so that at least her daughter has food.

Bodies of water cover the road

Aftonbladet’s reporter Olof Svensson and photographer Lotte Fernvall have also been stuck in the car queue since half past nine.

– It hasn’t moved a meter and is queues as far as you can see. Since it has been standing still for four hours, the queues must be enormous, miles long, says Olof Svensson.

The place is slippery and in places large bodies of water cover the road.

– The Swedish Transport Administration sent a tow truck to remove the truck, but it seems to have broken down. We saw lights from it flash in the distance, then it went off again.

When Aftonbladet talks to the emergency services shortly after midnight, they do not know about the traffic stop.
