Built in the XIIIe century on the banks of the Guadalquivir, the Torre del Oro was originally used to control access to the city during the Almohad period. Later, after the discovery of America, it is said that the ships went up the river to hide in this tower the foodstuffs coming from the New World. 36 m high, it is today one of the symbols of Seville.
