Toronto’s 7-0 cost a front tooth: “Don’t like what happened”

When superstar Auston Matthews was sick with the flu, Domi had to take his place in the chain with Mitch Marner and Matthew Knies in particular. Together, they scored seven points on this successful night.

Toronto went on to go 5-0 on Columbus in the third period (when they lost 5-6 in the shutout) last time.

After Knies made it 1-0 already after 1.57, Max Domi was tackled hard by Pittsburgh’s John Ludvig and lost a front tooth. Knies then took the first fight of his career against Ludvig.

– I’m not the one who looks for opportunities to fight, but I don’t like what happened when Max was tackled, says Knies.

Nylander’s point streak now eight games

Toronto goaltender Martin Jones kept a clean sheet for the 29th time in his career after saving 38 shots.

– It was quite an impressive match from start to finish for us. They are a team that likes to get shots off. They got a lot of pucks on goal but there weren’t many dangerous situations, says Jones according to AP.

William Nylander finished 7-0 and also had an assist to make it 5-0 as he extended his hitting streak to eight games.

It was a painful experience for Pittsburgh.

– It is a humiliating experience. We did not reach the normal standard at all and that is disappointing. We do this together and have to find a way to move forward, said Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan.
