Toronto won the must-win – Nylander scorer

Facts: Quarterfinals of the Stanley Cup

The match series will be decided in the best of seven games:

Florida–Toronto: 3–1 in games.

Carolina–New Jersey: 3–1 in games.

Seattle–Dallas: 2–2 in games.

Vegas–Edmonton: 2–1 in games (4th game underway)

Florida had a chance to get a fourth win and end Toronto’s season, but William Nylander, among others, wanted otherwise. And Tre Kronor thus has to put up with asking the Swede if he wants to join the WC squad.

Florida took a 3-0 lead into Thursday night’s best-of-seven quarterfinal round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Toronto had the knife on its throat and, despite the pressure, managed to reverse the losing trend against Florida and play at least one more game this season.

The first period of the game was scoreless and the redeeming goal for Toronto first came 3.29 into the second on the power play. Michael Bunting sent the puck, via the rim and a bounce on the referee, to William Nylander who was alone in front of the goal and managed to slide it in behind Florida goalkeeper Sergej Bobrovskij.

Nylander’s goal was the only one of the period, and the next came just over ten minutes into the third period. It too was a Toronto goal, this time with Mitchell Marner as the sender.

Two minutes later, Florida’s Sam Reinhart reduced the score to 1–2, which was also the final score of the game.

Florida now leads 3-1 in games and has another chance to decide the quarterfinal series when the teams meet in a fifth game in Toronto on Saturday night.
