The maternity ward at Lycksele hospital will not open on January 23 as planned. According to the region, the reason is that there are not enough gynecologists and midwives. BB in Lycksele was closed just before Christmas and on Sunday a protest action is being carried out where people have gathered to demand that the maternity ward reopens. The residents of Lycksele are critical of the closure because women who are about to give birth are referred to the delivery center in Umeå.
