Top Premier League referee suspended pending investigation insulted Liverpool

Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended pending video investigations into Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp, reports the BBC.

The English Premier League Referees Association PGMOL says According to the BBC on Monday, that the judge caught in the eye of the storm David Coote has been shelved pending an investigation.

In a video circulating on social media – the authenticity of which is currently being investigated – Coote appears to be barking at Liverpool and insulting the club’s former head coach Jürgen Klopp in ugly words.

In the video, Coote calls Klopp, among other things, arrogant and a German asshole.

The BBC has not confirmed the video, which has been widely shared on social media. It’s still unclear when it was filmed or if it’s even real.

The posted video refers to a Premier League match in which Coote was one of the four referees between Liverpool and Burnley in July 2020, which ended in a 1–1 draw.

A source told the BBC that the PGMOL investigation is treating the video as authentic.

Coote, 42, refereed Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday. He is one of the most experienced referees in the Premier League and has been refereeing in the top flight since 2018.
