Took offensive photos of colleagues – officer in Norrbotten is fired

The offending photographs took place in the years 2017-2021. It is about three different women who have all been employed by the Armed Forces.

When the police searched the man’s house, they found 5,030 images that could be classified as child pornography, of which 498 were assessed as particularly reckless abuse material.

The man was sentenced at the district court for the photography and child pornography crime to a suspended sentence, daily fines and to pay damages to the vulnerable women.

The day after the verdict was announced, the commander of the regiment in question in Norrbotten sent a notice to the Norwegian Armed Forces’ personnel responsibility board that the man would be fired. It was also the decision that was taken three weeks ago.

A spokesperson for the regiment writes in a comment via email to SVT Norrbotten.

“During this entire time, the matter has had the highest priority. The regiment continuously reviews all routines and working methods that we adhere to in order to prevent similar incidents from happening again.”

The man has appealed the verdict to the Court of Appeal, but the board believes that enough has been clarified in the case.
