Finally, the heat is starting to heat up in the Master of Masters!
After all the fun, the SVT program has really woken up.
Tony Rickardsson’s knock on Joel Lundqvist is the best thing that happened.
Everyone has described the new season of the acclaimed SVT program “Master of Champions” as the toughest in the program’s entire history. The house in Catalonia is filled to the brim with winners’ skulls and it will explode in all competition branches.

But have we seen it then? Absolutely not! The sixteenth season has mostly been about the good atmosphere and how good friends all the participants have become.

It is clearly the strength of the champion of champions, that they manage to create an extremely cozy atmosphere among ex-athletes who – usually – have never met each other. And we as TV viewers love that.
But come on, we sit on the TV sofa to see adrenaline and looks that can kill. Which is exactly what we get in tonight’s episode that truly offers blood, sweat and tears when Joel Lundqvist ends up in great focus and reveals his entire emotional register in front of the Swedish people.

Rickardsson’s knock
“It just sizzled!”, it said when Tony Rickardsson dreamed a wooden colossus right in the forehead of poor Lundqvist. Of course, a terrible accident and we suffer with Joel there and then – but it was the best thing that could happen to this year’s season of the Champions of Champions.

Drama at last! Finally total shock and confusion! Finally a few seconds where everything comes to a head. We obviously don’t call for violence on live television, but after the extremely good atmosphere and all the cuteness in the program, it was refreshing to feel something other than comfort.
“Became smarter…”
It’s also extra nice to see Joel return to the program, but the feeling is actually that the atmosphere is getting even better between the participants and that they open up even more to each other after the nasty thing.
– What’s going on here then?, says Joel and comes back just at the moment when Jimmy Samuelsson and Tony stands and hugs bare-chested in a tight wrestler’s grip.
– Like new, glued together and ready. It’s light, ready for new bangs! I think I’m probably smarter now than before the bang, says Joel in such a lovely hockey manner.

After that, there will be a completely different kind of emotional wave when Joel Lundqvist’s tribute film takes over and the tears flow. This episode of Champions of Champions really has EVERYTHING and we hope it’s the kick-start to far more competitive contestants – now that they’ve been bloodied.
