The coach and the union agree after a period of negotiations.
One thing remains: SvFF’s board must approve the recruitment.

Recently The Football Channel reveal That Tony Gustavsson is highly relevant to take over as the new national team captain for Sweden’s women’s team after the European Championships this summer. Now the negotiations have been completed.

Gustavsson and the Swedish Football Association agree that the coach replaces Peter Gerhardsson, according to several sources for the Football Channel.

However, one thing remains before Gustavsson can be officially presented. The recruitment itself, and the financial package that it entails, needs to be approved by the Federal Board. Several sources tell the Football Channel that the Board has an ordinary meeting planned on Thursday, and then the question of the new national team could be handled.

SvFF has for some time prepared for a future without Gerhardsson and in the process of finding his replacement identified man Gustavsson as an interesting name.

Was up to date for the men’s national team

The 51-year-old was highly relevant to take over the Swedish men’s national team together with Olof Mellberg a year ago, but then he was stuck in a job with Australia’s women’s team over the Olympics this summer and when the negotiations with Mellberg crashed at the last moment, the union chose another way .

But SvFF did not give up in his attempts to get Gustavsson into his business. They chose to resume the dialogue with the coach in the hope of being able to recruit him to the League Post on the women’s side.

Tony Gustavsson left Australia after a failed Olympics and has since stood without a job. He has won two World Cup golds and an Olympic gold with the United States, where he was the assistant captain in two rounds. In addition, the 51-year-old has won SM gold with Tyresö FF and trained Hammarby’s men’s team.
