“Tomorrow some of the top guilds could be recruiting…”

Similar to Lost Ark, there are more and more bot users in Throne and Liberty. Now Amazon Games has launched its first counterattack and commented on the problem to MeinMMO.

What does Amazon Games’ counterattack look like? MeinMMO has already reported several times about the increasing number of bot users in Throne and Liberty. Now the publisher has taken the first action against the cheating accounts.

A statement from those responsible for Throne and Liberty said on We will continue to monitor activity and take action against any bad actors who seek to negatively impact our players’ experience.

Maintaining a fair and equal gaming environment for all players is our top priority. We thank you for your understanding and support as we work to maintain the integrity of our games.”

Unfortunately, Amazon Games did not reveal how many accounts were banned.

Exclusive statement from Amazon Games

What did Amazon Games say to MeinMMO? After the launch of the MMORPG, we had the opportunity to ask the publisher a few questions, and of course the topic of bots came up. Specifically, we wanted to know what measures are being planned to ensure that the bots in Throne and Liberty do not have a negative impact on players’ gaming experience.

Daniel Lafuente, Globalization Design Manager at Amazon Games, took on this question. His full answer:

Our goal is to always maintain the integrity of the gaming experience for legitimate players. Many MMOs struggle with bots and Throne and Liberty is no different. Fighting these bad actors is a top priority. Even though the bot videos you described are getting a lot of attention, our data shows that the impact is still quite limited at this early stage.

We take proactive measures to combat bots on multiple fronts. For one thing, we’ve learned important lessons from dealing with bots and RMT issues in our other live games to stay ahead of development.

Our detection and ban systems are more robust than ever, but we’re also committed to adapting the underlying gaming systems and economics that allow bots to proliferate in the first place. We want to cut off potential winning opportunities to discourage botters before they even start working.

We have a special working group that is actively monitoring the situation and researching new countermeasures on a daily basis. We are committed to rapidly improving and evolving our anti-bot strategies through a combination of technological improvements, economic balance and good old police work by our Game Masters.

Our goal is to strike a decisive first strike against potential bot waves and send a clear message – that disruptive, experience-damaging behavior will not be tolerated in Throne and Liberty.

How does the community react to the first wave of bans?

  • Orions_starz takes a swipe at Reddit: “Some of the top guilds could be recruiting tomorrow… wink, wink.”
  • IIIBehaveFromNowOn hopes (via Reddit): “Let’s hope it works, at least temporarily. It’s hard to stop botting without hardware bans when you can create a new free account in seconds.”
  • kidsaredead is frustrated (via Reddit): “On the server I play on, we have an alliance that has 6 full guilds in the top 12. Most of them have 3000+ gear power, they use autoblock in PvP, and they have faster movement speed than anyone else. They literally do everything that these bot programs offer and they are still in the game. These bot programs don’t just offer auto-farming.”
  • Only time will tell whether the situation improves noticeably and how regularly waves of bans occur. What is the bot situation on your servers? Do they disrupt your gaming experience? Do the top guilds in your world use cheating software? Tell us in the comments! More on this: More and more bots in Throne and Liberty, perpetrators see no problem: just “third-party programs that run macros”
