Tom Holland and Zendaya as a couple

SPIDERMAN 2. In Far From Home, Spider-Man falls in love with MJ. In real life, are Tom Holland and Zendaya a couple?

[Mis à jour le 13 février 2022 à 20h45] In Spider-Man: Far from Home, the second part of the adventures of the spider-man with Tom Holland, Peter Parker falls under the spell of MJ. In real life, the 25-year-old actor is indeed in a relationship with his on-screen partner, Zendaya. They were photographed by the media Page Six exchanging a kiss in a car for the first time in July 2021. It is not known, however, if they were a couple at the time of the filming of Far from Home, released in 2019

Since then, Tom Holland and Zendaya have never really formalized their relationship, but the young couple has appeared side by side on several occasions at private events or photographed by the paparazzi. On social media, they do not fail to interact with each other, calling themselves “My Spider-Man” or “My MJ”, respectively. According to information from The Mirror, Tom Holland and Zendaya bought a house in London worth 3.5 million euros. More recently, they appeared together in the planetary success Spider-Man: No Way Homethe third installment of the franchise.

Synopsis- After the events of Avengers Endgame, Peter Parker needs a break from the Spider-Man costume. He therefore decides to relegate his superhero missions to the background and go on vacation with the aim of taking a road trip in Europe with his friends MJ and Ned. There, he is caught up by Nick Fury who forces him to take up the spider-man costume in order to collaborate with a strange man who calls himself Mysterio…

In the United States, the critical consensus was rather very positive around Spider-Man Far From Home when it was released in July 2019. The new adventures of Peter Parker in Europe have apparently convinced since the review aggregator professionals and the public gave 93% positive ratings for professional critics (out of 188 reviews gathered at the time of its release) and 98% positive ratings for viewers’ opinions (out of 928 reviews submitted at the time of its release).

In France, the last born of the studios Marvel received a somewhat more mixed reception. Le Monde finds Spider-Man’s comedy Far From Home “rather successful” but its script remains “confusing”. For its part, Le Journal du Geek is more convinced: it is a “high-end entertainment” and which even manages to integrate “the best films on the man-spider”. The writing of Ecran Large is less rave about it, explaining that Far From Home “is not the expected conclusion of Avengers Endgame”. Jon Watts’ feature film is thus described as “soft, lazy, lying about what he sells us”. At Première, we obviously appreciated Spider-Man Far From Home, “certainly the most successful since the reboot of the spider-man franchise”. In the columns of Figaro, we can also read satisfaction: “Far From Home is doing with honors” by offering a conclusion to Avengers Endgame “without forgetting the sparkling pop side of the summer teen movie”.

On the casting side, we take the same and start again in Spider-Man Far From Home. Tom Holland of course takes over the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man and the feature film marks the return of Zendaya in the role of MJ. Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan) is also still around after appearing in Homecoming, as is Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Among the new cast, note the arrival of some veterans of the Marvel saga in the cinema: Samuel L. Jackson in the role of Nick Fury but also Cobie Smulders in the role of Maria Hill. Last but not least, new addition to the cast: Jake Gyllenhaal is Mysterio in Spider-Man Far From Home. A beautiful string of stars for this sequel!

The Spider-Man Far From Home trailers revealed the arrival of Mysterio, a character played by Jake Gyllenhaal, very early on. In the trailers, we are told that Mysterio comes from another dimension of the “multiverse” and that Spider-Man must help him return there. At least that’s what Nick Fury seems to tell him. We can also see Mysterio fighting huge elemental creatures in Venice. But who is this Mysterio? To find out more, take a look at the Marvel comics.

In the comics, Mysterio has had several incarnations, but the one selected by the writers of Spider-Man Far From Home is none other than Quentin Beck. He is a stuntman specializing in special effects. Hidden behind a green suit and a helmet capable of surrounding him with holographic images, he takes the name of Mysterio, the master of illusion. Created by masters Steve Ditko and Stan Lee in 1964, Mystério resents Spider-Man and aims to make himself known by putting a superhero out of harm’s way. However, at the moment it is difficult to know if this plot taken from the comics will be the one chosen by Jon Watts’ film.

Warning for Spider-Man Far From Home spoilers. Only read this paragraph if you have already seen the film. In the middle of the credits of Spider-Man Far From Home, we can find Peter Parker back in New York. He discovers a video that will seal his future: a posthumous video of Mysterio explaining that it was Spider-Man who caused the drone attack. On set for the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson (JK Simmons who is reprising his role for the occasion) resumes his endless diatribe on the dangerous side of the spider-man. He takes the opportunity to reveal the true identity of Spider-Man: Peter Parker! Once again, Marvel doesn’t bother too much about the secret identities of its heroes. The studio also takes the opportunity to refer to a significant scene from the Civil War comics where Peter Parker himself revealed his superhero identity.

If you waited until the end of the credits of Spider-Man Far From Home, you discovered in the second post-credits scene that the Nick Fury that we see throughout the film is none other than Talos, a shapeshifting Skrull who turned into the boss of SHIELD. Meanwhile, the real Fury was basking on a paradise island… Well, not quite! The post-credits scene reveals that Nick Fury is actually on a Skrull spacecraft in mid-space. This seems to confirm the start of Captain Marvel 2 since Talos, the Skrulls and Nick Fury are all important characters from the previous Captain Marvel. Seeing Nick Fury in space will undoubtedly bring back memories to comic book fans since in the comics the SHIELD creates an antenna specially dedicated to combat in space: the SWORD (the shield and the sword, do you have it?) With this last scene, Marvel Studios therefore seems to confirm that the MCU sequel will be heading even more towards space.
