Tom Cruise suffered during his school years. He was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven. “I tried to concentrate on what I was reading but when I got to the end of a page, I couldn’t remember what I had read before. I panicked, my legs and my head hurt,” he explained in his autobiography. He then studied in remedial classes, which only amplified a feeling of isolation and exclusion. This is also why, at the beginning of his career, he improvised instead of reciting the text during auditions for a role!
