When Sigrun Arinbjörnsdottir and her husband came home and were met with a stinking shock.
The toilet and drain had turned into little poo fountains.
– It looked as if it had exploded in the toilet, she says.
Sigrun Arinbjörnsdottir received information from Växjö municipality that they would flush the drains, and that there could possibly be some bubbling in the pipes. But it would turn out to be much worse than that.
– My son, who was at home, called me at ten o’clock and said he couldn’t pee in the toilet because it looked like the toilet had spat, she says.
When Sigrun and her husband came home, they were greeted by a scent they would soon hide.
– It looked as if it had exploded in the toilet and there was something terrible smelling in the whole house, she says.
“Dried for three hours”
The pipes hadn’t just bubbled a little. The toilet was completely overflowing and poo was bubbling out of the drains.
– We had to dry for three hours just to get it up, but it still smells, she says.
Sigrun and her husband have not been in contact with Växjö municipality about this, but will in the future keep an eye on when it is time for the municipality to flush the pipes again.
Per Sandberg, head of administration at the community building administration at Växjö municipality, does not think what happened is particularly funny. He hasn’t seen anything like it in three years in the business.
– We have to look at this, I don’t really know why it happened, he says.
