Today there’s a 3.5-hour marathon with Arnold Schwarzenegger on TV: It’s two of his best action films

Today theres a 35 hour marathon with Arnold Schwarzenegger on TV

Tonight is all about Arnold Schwarzenegger – if you’re up for it. First you get one of the science fiction classic Terminator groundbreaking films in the genre to see. Then you jump to the future, namely to the year 2013. In The Last Stand, Schwarzenegger got behind the wheel of a turbulent action thriller for a South Korean master director.

Do you really need a synopsis for Terminator?

If the answer is “yes”: A cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is sent back from the year 2029 to the archaic 1984 to murder Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). She doesn’t know anything about her luck yet and gets help from future soldier Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn).

James Cameron’s film came with one Budget of just $6.4 million the starting signal of one of the great science fiction franchises. It still impresses with its original and clear sci-fi concept and differs from its successors in that it has a few horror thrillers. This Terminator is not yet a BFF of teenagers, on the contrary.

The Last Stand was Schwarzenegger’s first leading role since Terminator 3

The Last Stand is again the first and only American film by Kim Ji-woon, who recommended himself for directing with stylish shockers such as A Tale of Two Sisters and I Saw the Devil. Arnold Schwarzenegger returned here for a starring role 10 years after Terminator 3 and his service as governor in California.

The Story is reminiscent of a modern Westernwith Schwarzenegger as an aging sheriff, and bandits (or drug lords) threatening his town. Instead of horses, there are sports car chases and Johnny Knoxville as an eccentric gun nut. The story doesn’t always make sense, but the wild mix of moods, gags, brutal interludes and a grim Schwarzenegger is never boring.
