Despite many logical holes and mind-numbing action, The Transporter by screenwriter and producer Luc Besson almost seems like intellectual literature compared to the completely absurd chase that is served up to us in Crank 2. Here, the only thing that really counts is the crazy spectacle and the film climbs wonderfully uncompromisingly into its insane premise.
The crazy chaos of Crank 2 but would probably never have been possible without The Transporter. Jason Statham owes his current status, his breakthrough and the start of his career as an action actor who can also carry an entire film to this film. Before that, the actor was almost only seen in supporting roles, but then in more and more wilder action films as the main character.
