The relationship between David and Goliath applies to Avatar – Departure to Pandora in several ways. On the one hand, the heroes of the film are fighting an almost hopeless battle against a massively superior opponent. On the other hand, at the turn of the year 2009/2010, no film could hope to dethrone the blockbuster giant Avatar. But then The Shining of Silence managed to a frugal romantic drama that many have forgotten today.
Avatar loses first place to Channing Tatum as a soldier in love
The Shining of Silence revolves around lovers Savannah (Amanda Seyfried) and John (Channing Tatum). After a chance encounter, both want to have a relationship, but the attacks of September 11, 2001 drag soldier John into the turmoil of the Afghan war. They write letters to each other, but one day it seems to be too late for their love.

As Box Office Mojo reported, the romantic drama Avatar could surprisingly from the top of the US charts. This may also have been due to the stars Tatum (21 Jump Street) and Seyfried (In Time). However, they are not the only first-class actors in the film.
Also in front of the camera are Henry Thomas (The Fall of the House of Usher) and Richard Jenkins (Jack Reacher). The film was directed by veteran director Lasse Hallström (Gilbert Grape). In total The film grossed almost five times its production budget (via Box Office Mojo).
