A literary phenomenon is now in cinemas: the best-selling film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name, Just One More Time – It Ends with Us. But in 2021, the work experienced a whole new boom when it was featured in a popular niche of the social media platform TikToknamely among the book lovers at BookTok, became a recommendation that spread like word of mouth. Just one more time – It Ends with Us stormed the bestseller lists a second time and established itself there with further millions of sales over the next few years. In 2023, the NY Times spoke of over 20 million copies sold worldwide, which have now climbed even further.
The story about the florist Lily Bloom (Blake Lively), who falls in love with the surgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni, who also directs), initially like a fairly common love story. However, the book’s success is also due to the second level which, inspired by Colleen Hoover’s parents, only unfolds as the plot progresses.

I personally read the book Just One More Time a while ago because I was curious about the hype. I knew in advance that there would be some kind of twist or a surprising change of direction in the love story, but I had no idea what exactly to expect. So It Ends with Us could not unleash full emotional powerwhich in this way takes the unfortunately often equally unexpected reality as its model.
If you want to share this experience, then keep your hands off the trailerwhich already contains a lot of spoilers. If you are usually cautious about anything that is not a love story or light entertainment and are easily affected by dark or sad twists, then you should choose option 2 before going to the cinema.
2. Only watch once more with trigger warning – for the more sensitive

After falling in love with Ryle, Lily comes to the unpleasant realization that her partner does not shy away from physical and sexual violence in their relationship. In the end, the protagonist must decide whether she wants to maintain the relationship or choose an alternative.
Colleen Hoover’s book swam against the tide of toxic bad boy relationships. Many people who had fallen in love with the couple Lily and Ryle had their hearts broken halfway through reading and Discussions about trigger warnings (which the novel did not have).
