Tobias Bergman becomes the new table tennis federation captain

Tobias Bergman succeeds Jörgen Persson as national captain of the Swedish men’s table tennis.

36-year-old Tobias Bergman has previously been the women’s national team captain, but in the future will have an expanded role where he is responsible for both national teams.

“Our goal is to consolidate Sweden’s position as a world nation in men’s ping pong in the short term, while at the same time building a long-term plan to lift steam ping pong to the same level,” says Bergman in a press release.

Daniel Ellermansports manager in the Swedish Table Tennis Association:

“In the reorganization we are now carrying out in the national teams, Tobias has been the first choice for this modern solution where we want to work in a new way for the next four years”.

In the new model, the league captain must work with greater focus on player development, writes the league. Several assistant leaders must be attached to the national team captain, among other things to relieve the burden at camps and major competitions and championships.
