Long before the MCU, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man was proof of what masterful superhero cinema could look like. The Marvel blockbuster with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker was the perfect mix of action values, fantastic characters and a story that was always emotionally thrilling.
But one scene from Spider-Man in particular will certainly be will forever be remembered for their efforts. Nowadays it would certainly be created quickly using CGI.
The spectacular cafeteria scene in Spider-Man was actually filmed that way
In a scene from Raimi’s Marvel film, MJ (Kirsten Dunst) walks past Peter in the school cafeteria and slips on a puddle of juice. Through his new spider sense Peter reacts quickly and not only catches his true love, but also the tray flying through the air on which everything, like a sandwich and an apple, lands perfectly again.

According to Far Out Magazine, John Dykstra, Spider-Man’s visual effects supervisor, revealed on the DVD audio commentary that the scene filmed without CGI or similar digital tricks became. He said the tray was attached to Maguire’s hand with glue. It is said to have taken a total of 156 attempts until the Marvel scene was perfect.
