To simplify its ecosystem, Microsoft is rolling out a single Teams app that lets you easily switch between your personal, work, and education accounts. It’s about time!

Teams may be an essential videoconferencing and collaboration software for everyday use, but its use is not the most intuitive. Indeed, when searching for the platform in their “Start” menu, users are offered several installed versions. Yes, at present, two Teams applications are available on Windows 11. The first is dedicated to work while the second is dedicated to personal use. Needless to say, it is quite confusing…

Fortunately, Microsoft announces in a blog post the deployment of a unified version of its collaborative platform. Now, professional, personal and educational accounts are brought together within a single Teams application. This major update is available now for Windows 11, Windows 10 and Mac.

Microsoft Teams: One app for multiple accounts

In this new single application, it is therefore possible to associate several accounts. To do this, simply select our profile picture at the top right of your screen, where we can add an account or select a different one. Multiple accounts will then open in windows side by side. In addition, Microsoft simplifies the choice of account when joining a meeting, by offering us to change accounts before connecting to a video conference or to join it as a guest. Finally, improvements have been made to notifications of personal accounts, so that we can quickly know on which account we are contacted or have appointments planned for example.

The single Teams app is available for Windows 10 and 11 and macOS. For those who have already installed the app, a simple update will take place automatically. Otherwise, it is possible to download this new Teams on the Microsoft official website.
