A new mount in World of Warcraft is coming after a long wait – but you have to play for it. Very much. And also old content.
New mounts in World of Warcraft are always a reason to be happy for collectors. But some tasks seem almost gigantic. One of them, which comes into play with patch 11.0.7, could keep new players busy for weeks – and in old content. Veterans may have an easier time if they were already playing at the time of Battle for Azeroth.
WoW is currently celebrating the game’s 20th birthday:
What kind of success is this? The achievement is called “A Farewell to Arms” and is a major meta-achievement that requires you to have achieved 18 other achievements, most of which are meta-achievements. In other words: a really tough task. The achievements all take place in the “Battle for Azeroth” expansion – i.e. in content that has been out of date for a while.
What kind of reward is there? The reward is “Jani’s Trashpile”. Jani is one of the smaller Loa that you could meet from time to time in Battle for Azeroth. Jani appears in a few quests and you almost always have to rob or punish someone as a little dinosaur. The mount looks exactly like Jani.
What do you have to do? The meta-achievement “A Farewell to Arms” is long – really, really long. To do this, you have to complete pretty much all of Battle for Azeroth’s content and often also complete achievements that are not just “along the way” but that you have to pursue specifically. Meta achievements include:
Why is Blizzard doing this? Blizzard started implementing such achievements for past expansions a while ago – there was a similar achievement in Shadowlands and Dragonflight also received an achievement of this type at the end of the expansions. It can be assumed that Blizzard will slowly add all the expansions until there is such a comprehensive achievement for each, which will then be rewarded with a special mount.
For many, this will be a new reason to play the old content again and earn a nice mount – and also one or two transmog items from the raids or island expeditions. Since a large part of the successes are also credited retrospectively or have already been completed, veterans have a much easier task ahead of them.
“Old content” seems to be the topic anyway, because the new Siren Island is actually from Battle for Azeroth.
