Need your coffee to start the day? But did you know that a simple fruit would be able to give you the same energy, and more sustainably?

You don’t have the clear ideas or the energy to start your day before your first cup of coffee? It’s true that caffeine can give you a nice boost. But it’s not the only one. A common fruit would also have this power

Coffee, good for waking up, but sparingly

For its part, coffee is widely known to wake us up and give us that boost of energy necessary in the morning or in the middle of the day. The drink also remains interesting in terms of health: rich in antioxidants, coffee can improve alertness and reduce the risk of diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart disease and even certain cancers. But excessive consumption can also be harmful to you. Too much coffee in everyday life can cause anxiety, stress, and disrupt your circadian rhythm by creating insomnia.

Finally, the effects also depend on the consumers: some also experience digestive disorders or palpitations. The European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) considers that a dose of caffeine of up to 200 mg per dose remains safe for a healthy adult.

The apple, the other way to stock up on energy

If you don’t like coffee, then, or if you need to take more to wake up, know that there is another solution, that of biting… into an apple. Because this fruit, which is found everywhere and in all seasons, has an interesting advantage: that of generating renewed energy, much more sustainable than coffee. Where caffeine will indeed have a temporary energy peak, the natural sugars of the apple, by being released more gradually, promise to give you energy for longer. Biting an apple when you wake up would therefore not be absurd.

In addition, the fruit is full of other benefits, which you benefit from at the same time: it is rich in pectin, a natural fiber known to lower cholesterol. And flavonoids, which promote better insulin sensitivity, protecting against diabetes while helping to control weight.

If coffee gives you heart palpitations or makes you jittery, you now know that an apple in your pocket can do the trick.
