Tlc AgCom deregulation underway for Tim wholesale markets

(Finance) – AgCom approved the resolution which concludes the investigation relating to theanalysis of fixed network access markets TIMwith which one begins first phase of deregulation of the food market wholesale central access services (bitstream), from which the company will be able to benefit immediately and in specific geographical areas.

For the Authority, in fact, the market for wholesale central access services “is competitive and, as such, no longer susceptible to ex ante regulation” over the next five years. Consequently, “the current regulation of TIM is removed (with an eighteen-month sunset clause for access obligations, to protect the market)”.

As regards i wholesale local access services markets and gods dedicated wholesale capacity servicesthe Authority’s analysis has identified the fully competitive areas of the country (14 Municipalities for the local access services market and 4 Municipalities for the dedicated capacity services market), in which the regulatory obligations of TIM can be removed

However, AgCom reserves the right to review the regulatory framework before the deadline “if the separation process” of the TIM network announced in January 2024 is completed. And consequently, once the landline is sold to KKRthere will be one new market analysis and the regulatory constraints will fall on Netco, while the remaining Tim Consumer will be freed from these obligations.
