Time to declare – here are the savings economist’s best tips

As of today, Tuesday, it is possible to declare with the Tax Agency and many may hope to be able to make deductions in the declaration.
But the question is which deductions you can actually make.
– There is a slight superstition about what deductions you can make, says savings economist Frida Bratt at Nordnet.

It is best, as a private individual, to focus on the large deduction areas, such as a home sale, says the savings economist.

– Headings such as “here are all the deductions you can make” make you as a private person get the impression that there are a lot of deductions to make, says Frida Bratt.

Sale of housing

If you have sold a home, there may be deductions to be made, costs for renovation, rebuilding or extension can be deducted.

– Then it is good to prepare so that you have an overview of invoices and receipts. It can make a big difference in the end, says Frida Bratt.

Travels

If you intend to make deductions for travel, it is important to keep an eye on which requirements apply. For example, you only get deductions for expenses that exceed SEK 11,000.

– There are strict requirements when it comes to travel, says Frida Bratt. There is a good service on the Tax Agency’s website that you can use.

“Grab it”

The general advice Frida Bratt wants to give is to get hold of your declaration, even if it feels difficult or complicated. It is important to submit the declaration on time, otherwise it costs money and you can always go in and make changes afterwards.

– There is a fairly obvious carrot from the Tax Agency in getting hold of it – if you finish your declaration early, you can get your money early, says Frida Bratt.
