Discussions continue with the Crown attorney, Greg McGivern, the teen’s lawyer, told the court.

The Crown has filed notice it will seek to have the accused tried as an adult.

Crown and defense are “exploring all options that would perhaps take care of this matter short of that,” McGivern said, but have yet to reach an agreement.

The defense has made several requests to the Crown for disclosure and there has been a pre-trial meeting.

McGivern requested the case be adjourned to Dec. 7 to determine next steps. If no resolution has been reached by then, a new date will be needed to look at arranging a preliminary hearing.

There is a publication ban on evidence heard during the pre-trial phase.

According to previous reports, the teen was charged with aggravated assault after a man was seriously injured in a clash at Queen and Louise streets in Tilbury on June 6, 2022, police said.

The injured man, identified in court documents at the time as William Walker Grant, died in hospital June 27, police said.

The youth was arrested again on July 14, 2022, and charged with manslaughter, police said.
